SAN MATEO (BCN)

Police have released a sketch of a suspicious man who bothered a woman at San Mateo Adult School last week and are asking for the public's help in locating him.

On Thursday, a 19-year-old student at the school located at 789 E. Poplar Ave. was taking a break at the campus parking lot around 6:15 p.m. when a man parked nearby came out of his car and approached her, police said.

She ignored him as he greeted her and complimented her appearance, according to police.

He repeatedly offered her money to leave with him but she continued to ignore him, police said.

She walked back to the school and reported the incident to police about two hours later.

The suspect is described as a Filipino or Asian man, around 30 years old, has brown eyes, about 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighs 165 pounds, has a light complexion and unshaven with a medium build, police said.

He has short, dark hair that may be spiked on top and is unshaven, according to police.

His car is described as a dark blue or black foreign sedan, police said.

On Friday, officers arrested 36-year-old Gary Fong on suspicion of harassing teenage girls at San Mateo High School on two separate occasions earlier this month, police said.

Investigators do not believe Fong is connected with Thursday's incident, according to police.

Police are working with the San Mateo Union High School District and San Mateo-Foster City School District to investigate all three incidents and to keep students and faculty safe.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call the San Mateo Police Department's investigations bureau at (650) 522-7650. Anonymous tips can be made by calling (650) 522-7676 or text message at (650) 262-3473.
